Artist: Bob Noreika
Title: Cruising
Size: 21” x 29”
Medium: Watercolor on paper
Frame: 3.5” 8 ply mat with a 1” frame
Masterfully crafted, yet never predetermined compositions - paired with juicy paint and bold brush strokes, Robert Noreika is an artist, teacher and local personality. Traveling all over New England and beyond, his passion for painting, design and beautiful landscapes is palpable.
In his piece “Cruising,” he puts heightened perspective into smooth sailing. The head of the boat soars above the horizon line, leaving minimal real-estate for the ocean and distant land. The viewer is diving head first into the picture plane, encapsulated on both sides by the lively atmosphere with long colorful slides, an aqua cerulean blue pool, and people everywhere. Headed for vacation in the Bahamas, Noreika has one eye open for a fresh composition everywhere he goes.
Noreika graduated from Paier School of Artand has been a practicing artist for many years. Judging the finality of his own work, if, when, and what makes a finished painting, he turns to influences such as Charles Movalli, Frank Federico and Charles Sovek. He is inspired by their minimalist brushwork, striking color pallets and gracefulness as they dance across the canvas. With a clean mat and custom frame, this piece is finished and ready for its debut at the New England Watercolor Society. There is so much engaging content out there right now, that I want to take some time to review and think about all the new ways we can interact with art from the comforts of home.
But as it turns out, there are some other ways to feed that craving and make a connection. Many museums have stretched the very notion of what on-line content can provide in connecting with their patrons.
