Who is this, you ask?

For all you loyal readers out there, I want to start the new year by saying hello and introducing myself. Although, for lots of you, this is about six months too late and you might think you already know me, but please keep reading anyways. My name is Julie Weaver and I am an artist, framer and Wholesale Frame blogger, of course with many other wonderful hobbies and attributes - to be discussed at a later point. By now I have met many of the Wholesale Frame customers and have been immensely impressed by the community of artists that walk in the door. This is a true homage to the quality at Wholesale Frame and the incredible work produced by the Aresco Father and sons’ team. And in case you are wondering, no, I am not related in any way.  Anyways, I live in Hartford with my Fiancé Liam, due to be my husband come this October, if I can manage to keep up this “volunteer” position in event planning I picked up along the way.  But I digress.

The real reason I am here is to keep you entertained with monthly newsletters featuring a Wholesale Frame artist, tips and tricks of the trade, and anything else that I might want to write about. If you’re interested in being a featured artist, let me know! It might just be the door that leads to your retrospective at the Met. Or, if you have a topic or question you want me to touch on, preferably art or framing related - but I’m open to other ideas, chime in any time.

Did I mention that I am an artist yet? Let me use this moment to shamelessly promote myself.  You can check out my (mostly updated) website at julieweaverart.com or come see the real stuff, in person, February 8th from 5-7pm at the Town & County gallery in Hartford.

Okay, back to where I was. Stay tuned for more insightful content and remember that a good frame is always a good choice! Yes, I just made that up, but I think it’s got sticking potential. Of course, come see us in Meriden, CT or visit the website at wholesaleframeco.com if you’d rather stay home and skip going out in the beautiful New England winter weather.

Have you seen Robert Barker’s work? He lives in Dover NH. My daughter has been over his apartment and his walls are covered with his art..

Artist Spotlight: Francis Hines
Artist Spotlight: Francis Hines

Francis Hines lived in Connecticut for periods of time, even working as chief commercial artist at the iconic G. Fox & Co in Hartford during its prime. However, Hines was a New York artist through and through.  It’s where he summoned his energy and creative spirit. He was extremely prolific and although recognized at times for his work, he was not after the fame or glory.

As we look forward to the quintessential New England Fall, the works of Anda Styler are exactly that. Light dances across her surfaces capturing that fleeting moment when you are struck by the beauty of a landscape. As a viewer, I see the playfulness and joy of her discoveries.
